The round about way.

We have been reading a chapter of Charlotte's Web each night. Tonight before we started reading, Miss K found a picture she wanted help replicating. As Uncle D-man is still here and is the expert artist in the house, I suggested she take it to him. She also wanted me to draw a pig. Not exactly my skill level. She came back a few minutes later with the book, the completed drawing, minus pigs, and a map of the United States.
"Mom, on our way home from Nana's house, we need to take this road (pointing to about where Nana's house is) and drive all this way. We drive through this one and this one and this one and then stop in Kansas, so we can take a picture of the pigs, so I can have them for my design."
Yes, because that is the most economical way to get a picture of pigs. Nevermind the fact we live not to far from the "country".

ps. We LOVE Charlotte's Web. It has been read many times.

A dream is a wish your heart makes

Almost every little girl dreams of being a some sort of Disney character at some point in there life. When I was younger my dream was to be Snow White. Miss K has trouble making a decision, she vacillates between Cinderella, Ariel and Aurora.

Never in my right (or left) mind did I ever imagine, I would look like this particular character after awaking, one fine summer morning:

Ever since we have lived in this beautiful, bloodsucking place, I have suffered terrible allergic reactions to mosquito bites. First experience, I covered in 40+ bites, which required a visit t0 a facility with sterile rooms, three prescriptions and lots of rest later, they were no longer swollen to the size of softballs.

I woke up early this morning with the intent of going on a bike ride. Dragged, I mean hopped my way into the bathroom and started the "process". I noticed my eye felt funny, but as I am blind without some sort of eye device, wasn't sure why. I put my spectacles on and lo and behold, I looked like the aforementioned Disney character, with my hooded, swollen eye. The crazy hair was just the bonus! Several Benadryl and a quarantine to my house for the day, it is almost back to normal.

Piorella

Daddy had been reminding Miss K that she will be able to do the dishes all by her self in the not too distant furture. She isn't too keen on the idea and asked us if she had to do ALL of the chores all by herself.

The next morning she walked into the Misters office and needed help getting dressed. She brought my old pioneer dress and a dress up apron, because if she had to be Cinderella, she was going to dress like her! Word!

The long and short of it...

Miss K has been begging for short hair for awhile, and besides the self inflicted hairdo when she was 5, it's been longer.....mom finally gave in.

We went from this:

Shadow

I love this pic for so many reasons:

Last we checked, she was a girl. Maybe she needed confirmation?

Hair Do's

Why didn't I think about using one of these to get the little elastic ponies out of Miss K's hair? This would have been helpful starting about four years ago and not just yesterday?

Trust me, much less crying from the both of us!

TV's are for watching...

Miss K: I want a t.v. in my bedroom.
Mom: Ha, ha, that is never going to happen.
Miss K: But, it would be really fun.
Mom: Nope, not in a million years.
Miss K: Well, when I get married I'm going to have one in my bedroom. That is, if you want grandchildren!
Mom thinking....well if that's how she thinks we're going to get grandchildren, that is alright with me!

This is what happens when Mom and Dad think she is sleeping.

This is her Amber memory box and has lots of pics of her Auntie. She has included all of her people from her Loving Family dollhouse and her family album Nana made her. I can't explain the red pillow (I think she gets her color identification skills from dad.), nor the 5 blankets I found stuffed under or around the "pedestal".

Catch up

* A couple of weeks ago for FHE we discussed Pioneers. We borrowed the Sweetwater Rescue movie from the library. About halfway through the movie, and after much discussion about the hardship and trials the Willie and Martin handcarts companies faced, Miss K looks up and says "Why didn't they just take cars?" Hmmmmmm.

*As of February 13, I am no longer employed. After working for the Company for almost 7 years, they are cutting my position. We really feel this was an answer to our prayers, even though the timing was a little strange. We have faith it will all work out and know He has a plan for us.

*It has been 55+ degrees for the last few days. We (as in us) are sooooo done with winter. I hope Mother Nature agrees! Miss K has a new bathing suit and is itching to use it.

I have done too many pictureless posts......will fix that soon.

Eau de Love

My family LOVES bacon.

I do not like to cook bacon, because the smell permeates the house for days. Tonight I made this for dinner. It was yummy and received rave reviews.

Now the house, my clothes, hair and skin reek of bacon. When the Mister arrived home from church, I was explaining my dilemma. His response..."I love bacon. We should make the smell into perfume."

I reek of bacon and have freshly shaved legs. He is living his ultimate fantasy!

What did you say?

"Holy crackers!" Miss K's version of holy cow/holy cr** or the overused awesome.

Ol' what's his name

Miss K came home from school today and informed us she watched the new president in the library. "Ya know Mommy, A Rock Obama!"

Whats up? Not much!

This week has been pretty uneventful in our house. Miss K had a friend over after school on Wednesday and we made play dough cookies. She was out of school on Friday and was climbing up the walls due to immense boredom.

The Mister was in Denver from Monday to Thursday enjoying every second of his long meetings (wink, wink). While the Mister was away, Auntie Jenna was here and we had some girly girl fun. The Mister and I were reminded how blessed we are to have a temple 5 miles from our home.

We received a fun package on Friday afternoon from Nana. This included a FANCY eraser for Miss K's dry erase board and a fun little kitchen gadget for me, among other cool treats. Mom - I went to buy a small box of powdered milk today, I am craving the smell of bread.

Oh, one other small thing, I've lost 10 pounds since Christmas.

Precious Gem

"Mom, what day are you going to start losing weight?" Thanks for pointing out the obvious to everyone at the store while we were buying your snow boots. I can't forget to thank you for reminding me that I need to buy the food they sell on TV and how I can pay for it by selling my gold. (It snowed all day Tuesday and she watched way too many cartoons.)

Miss K "helped" mop the floor while the Mister was at YM on Wednesday. Thursday morning she woke up and walked to the back door, low and behold muddy paw prints everywhere. "Uuuggghhh! I just mopped this floor last night and it is already a mess!" Join the club.

"Your just KILLING me!" Love, when you drag your dollhouse, furniture, barbies, doll's and the kitchen sink to the family room, it is your job to take it back upstairs before bed. I'll try not to "kill" you tomorrow.
